Where to donate used or unwanted items?

Many national charitable organizations accept gently used household items such as clothing, toys, dishes, cookware, sports equipment, furniture. Donation information for local chapters is online:

Some organizations will pick up from your home, others have designated donation drop off points.

Local veterinary offices, animal hospitals and animal shelters often gladly accept unwanted linens and towels. Call locations in your area.

Schools and churches often accept donations for yard sales and thrift shops. Committees such as the PTA often run such events. Call locations in your community to inquire.

Items often rejected for donation include: stuffed animals, upholstered furniture, children’s car seats, and non-functioning/broken TV sets or other appliances. Call your local trash pick up for disposal information.
